Preferred School Size Working Group
The Preferred School Size Working Group (PSSWG) is an ad hoc stakeholder group convened to review, consider and discuss educational and fiscal criteria, examine current practices and draft guidelines for preferred school population sizes for VSB elementary and secondary schools. PSSWG was established in response to a recommendation from the May 2019 Long Range Facilities Plan approved by Vancouver Board of Education, that the District establish guidelines on preferred student population size with the goal of determining appropriate ranges of school size to inform planning decisions.
PSSWG members are comprised of representatives from Vancouver Elementary School Teachers Association, Vancouver Secondary Teacher Association, Vancouver Elementary Principals and Vice Principals Association, Vancouver Association of Secondary School Administrators, District Parents Advisory Council, Vancouver District Student Council, and Vancouver school district staff.
PSSWG will convene monthly starting February 2020. PSSWG findings and report to VSB Senior Management and to VBE Facilities Planning Committee are expected by Fall 2020.
