Safe and Caring Schools

Safe and Caring Schools Department

In alignment with Goal 1 of the VSB Education Plan, the District is committed to fostering environments where every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive. We work to create welcoming and inclusive spaces that promote physical and mental well-being, strengthen a sense of belonging, and encourage students to reach beyond previous boundaries in their learning and experiences. Through this shared focus, we strive to ensure that all students feel welcome and connected within their school communities.

The District believes in equitable treatment for all individuals regardless of race, colour, ancestry, ethnic origin, religion, socio-economic status, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, or political beliefs.  The letter and spirit of the Canadian Human Rights Act and the B. C. Human Rights Code shall be carefully observed, enforced, and supported, so that all members of the school community may work together in an atmosphere of respect and tolerance for individual differences.

Have you seen or heard something that concerns you? Is someone or something bothering you or your friends at school? lets you send a secure, anonymous, and confidential message to your school or school district’s safe school coordinator, who will follow up right away. You do not have to provide your name unless you want to.

erase is all about building safe and caring school communities. This includes empowering students, parents, educators and the community partners who support them to get help with challenges, report concerns to schools, and learn about complex issues facing students.
